Having meetings in an efficient manner
Contents: in order to avoid that the purpose of having meetings becomes inversely proportional to the number of persons present we have developed various programmes and modules. We mostly start our training in the old school manner, giving a survey of what the purpose of the meeting can be (informative, problemsolving), why we attend meetings (“we always have a meeting on Tuesday morning…”) and which competences (power of decision, secrecy etc) can apply.
Consequently, we have a meeting new style. Where are the areas and fields of communication located in the organization? Where are they located? What effect do they have? How can we increase involvement? And the one million dollar question: how can we increase efficiency? Having meetings never was so much fun! Introduction of a rotating presidency, speed measurement and passing someone else the ball seems to really take place. People must and will adhere to the allocated time. Who will win the “nonsense lottery?”.
Modern techniques too such as conference-calling and podcasting (as an alternative for minutes which are never read) will be also discussed. What will happen to the efficiency of meetings if people are seated in a dimly lit room or if a company joker is present?
Objective: improving meeting techniques and the efficiency of meetings.
Target audience: meeting addicts of different feathers.
Issues: increasing involvement, reporting, listening actively, “yes and” instead of “yes but…”, a rotating presidency, process versus contents, the ultimate meeting, having meetings in the dark.
